(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada and the Men’s National Team coaching staff are pleased to announce the ten (10) athletes who have been selected as core players of the 2017 Men’s National Team. All ten players were members of the gold-medal winning 2015 World Championship team and will be looking to defend their world title in Whitehorse, Yukon from July 7-16, 2017.
The announcement of the core players follows the timelines identified in the athlete selection process of the Men’s National Team Selection Criteria. Up to twelve (12) of the remaining thirty (30) players from the Men’s National Team Athlete Pool will be invited to a selection camp in June, 2017 to vie for the seven (7) remaining roster spots.
The Men’s National Team held a Development Camp in June but did not compete in any events in 2016. Team Canada had its best year ever in 2015, capturing Gold at both the WBSC Men’s World Softball Champions in Saskatoon and the Pan American Games in Toronto.
