NL Fastpitch Is Saddened To Learn That Long Time Player, Umpire & Executive Bob Gulliver Passed Away On Thursday, March 9, 2017.

To Bob's Family & Friends, Our Thoughts And Prayers Are With You During This Difficult Time.

Bob Gulliver Was Involved In Softball For 22 Years (1967-1988) As A Player, Umpire & Executive.

Member Of 2 Championship Teams: Kelland's (1972) & Cabot Street (1974).
Captured The RBI Title (19) With Cabot Street (1974).
 
St. John's Senior Men's Fastpitch League
 
Played In The St. John's Senior Men's Fastpitch League For 7-Years (1977-1983).
Played For The Following Teams: Cabot Street (1977-1980) & Mr. Jim's (1980-1983).
Finished His Career With A .959 Fielding Percentage (672PO-116A-34E).
Recipient Of The Mike Byrd Memorial Award In Recogniton Of His Contribution To The Success Of The Senior League (1983).
 
On The Field As An Umpire
 
Member Metro Umpires For 13-Years (1975-77 & 1979-1988).
Umpired At 2 National Championships: Junior Ladies (1976) In St. John's & Junior Men's (1986) In St. John's.
Obtained Level III National Umpire Designation (1986).
 
Off The Field As An Executive
 
Served 3-Years On The Inter Street League Executive: Secretary (1971) & Vice-President (1974-1975).
Served 2-Years As Softball NL Commissioner With Sotball Canada (1980-1981).
Served 3-Years On The St. John's Senior League Executive As A Player Representative (1982-1984).
Served 3-Years On The Metro Umpires Executive As A Schedule Co-Ordinator (1986-1988).
Served On Organizing Committees For 6 National Championships: Sr. Men's (1979 & 1989), Sr. Ladies (1982 & 1988) & Jr. Men's (1986 & 1991).
Served On The Women's World Championship Organizing Committee (1994).

Gulliver, Robert - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on March 9, 2017; Robert Gulliver, aged 65 years. Predeceased by his father, Fred Gulliver and sister, Marilyn O’Rielly. Left to morn with fond and loving memories, his daughter, Meaghan King (Colin); grandchildren, Caden and Layla and his mother, Marie Gulliver. Bob also leaves to mourn his sister, Lorraine Walsh (Bernie); brother, Randy Gulliver (Yvonne); brother-in-law, Robert O’Rielly and his 12 nieces and nephews, Darlene Doyle (Wayne), Darrell Walsh (Sherri), Denise Walsh (Greg), Deanne Nagle (Dave), Stephen Gulliver (Brittany), Jason Gulliver (Shayla), Jill Gulliver (Doug), Amanda Gulliver, Colleen O’Rielly (Jeremy), Michael O’Rielly, Kelly O’Rielly (Justin) and Leanne Walsh (Andrew). Bob will also be missed dearly by his friends from the NL Sports. Bob was a member of several executive committees with NL Darts, Softball, Basketball and Soccer. He was also a member of the CEI Club, Steller Club and Old Comrades Lodge. Bob spent his working career at the College of the North Atlantic. As an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Bob spent many hours cheering on his favourite team. A special thank you to Dr. Stewart Rorke, Dr. Scott Edwards, Dr. Chris Smith and the nursing staff of ICU and 6 East at St. Clare’s. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Thursday from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and Friday from 12-noon to 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick’s Church on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:30am. Cremation will follow with inurnment to take place at a later time. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
