Record Playoff Performance For Gosse

Softball pitcher Ward Gosse is The Telegram Sports Department’s choice as Athlete of the Week.

Gosse of the Roebothan McKay Marshall Republic set a number of Molson St. John’s Intermediate Softball (Playoff) Pitching Records in leading his team to the 2018 League Title this week.

Gosse pitched all 10 Playoff Games for the Republic, including the Monday night win at Lions Park that gave the team a sweep of the CBC Junior Canadians in the Best-of-5 Final.

Gosse, who had an 0.85 Earned Run Average in the Playoffs, set records for post-season Wins with eight, Strikeouts with 120 and Shutouts with four.

A sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer, Gosse enjoyed an All-Star Career in the Senior Ranks before retiring and suiting up with the Intermediate squad.
